ELLS Significance

ELLS will:

· Provide access to quality, Internet-based second-language instruction in English and Chinese, for millions of students who lack qualified teachers and programs.

· Enhance the skills of teachers of second language instruction by providing them access to quality on-line training programs in pedagogy and content.

· Increase the knowledge base on effective teaching of a second language using technology with the analysis of data from the ELLS.

· Promote mutual understanding among students and educators in participating countries through greater respective for other languages and culture.
